My personal favorite read of all time is the sesational book The edge of the Cloud by the wonderful writer K.M Peyton.
This easy going, yet beautiful, book is the second in the famous Flambards Series and is, in my opinion, the best out of them all.
It stars 17 year old Christina, who has run away from Flambards with her cousin Will to go to London. They are in love, and yes, they are cousins.
They leave the angry household of Flambards to get away and start afresh, only to discover a host of new problems including Wills love of flying, and the fact that Christina is terrified whenever he leaves the ground.
This is set just before the first world war, and is a great book. I personally like it more than the others because it doesn't go on about horses and riding so much.
It has a host of wonderful characters., and is filled with moments that will make you laugh and make you cry. It also tells a beautiful story about romance and choices and the hard brutallity of life, without being all long winded and stupid.
You have to read the first book to understand about the plot in general, but you will surely agree that this is the best one.
I would rate this a definite 5 stars and would recommend it for 9 years and up.
When I read this book, I couldn't put it down. It has stayed with me forever and has changed the way I see books forever!

Yeah, I can only find Flambards, Flambards in Summer and then some other random horse book. I will have to buy on Amazon. Oh by the way RedHead, my sister loves the Cat Royal books! Keep posting!
ReplyDeleteI was given The Edge of the Cloud as a christmas present, and it was bought fromm Amazon. Take a look, it'll be easy to find!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and tell your sister to keep reading!
OMg am lovin this book!.! Herd bout it on site and pestered my step-dd to buy it!!! Its a bit old fashioned but Will sounds well peng!!!!
ReplyDeleteWill equals gorgeous :D
DeleteOh no!!! Planes dont interest me but if they did then this book would be a perfect read!!! I recomend number 1 in the Flambards series if you really have to read them!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you really have NO interest in planes or the books at all? Have you ever read them? If you decide to give it ago, feel free to comment here!
ReplyDeleteI hate fox hunting and it always upsets me when I read book 1. Book 2 is better, though Sandy dying is really wrong. I wish KM had kept him alive, he was nicer than Will and Christinas friend :'(
ReplyDeleteWhat really bugs me about the flambards series is that i love the first two but HATE the last two! In Flanbards Divided especially! Km peytons style changes, all her characters change and i think its pointless setting christina up with mark. Hello? Why didnt they just get together in the first place then?! Will dying is pointless, its only done so dick/flambards get mentioned and included again. Its so critical of me, but i think the series is ruined by the third and fourth books. Sorry KM, william didnt deserve killng off, dick didnt deserve a complete character re modelling and mark doesnt deserve christina. As someone commented on another post, christina should join the suffragettes. Critical, but all truth.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thats a strong opinion! I partly agree with your comment, but I think hate is too strong. The third book is still quite good aside Williams death; but i agree that the whole plot of book 4 (including the christina and mark get together) is just wrong. Thank you for commenting so truthfully!
ReplyDeleteLove how everyone who comments is a Will/Christina supporter :) do you think that, if we pestered KM Peyton enough, she might write a little alternate thing just for all us Will fans? A little 'will didnt die' story for world book day or something? How I wish she would! Please km peyton, PLEEAASSEE! :)
ReplyDeleteWill died and that adds to the plot. It would be boring and too sappy without it.
ReplyDeleteWho do you think is best for Christina if not Will? (:
DeleteSuffragettes and single-ism! (:
DeleteNooo one but William E Russel! From MrsRussel (in ma dreams....) :D xxx
DeleteThe best bit in the Christina/Will relationship is the reality. It wouldnt be sunshine and rainbows in real life, and neither is it here.
DeleteNever read it, maybe I should...
ReplyDeleteThat is a very interesting opinion, and it's true to say that it's not just Will supporters out there! Apologies if my blogs are a little bit Will biased!!! From RedHead :)
ReplyDeleteCrazygirl, you should definitley read this book! When you have read it, why don't you leave a comment and say what you thought? Thanks for posting, RedHead :)
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments in the flambards posts, its nice to know how other readers see things! Thank you all, and happy reading! Best wishes, RedHead xxx

DeleteYeah i kinda feel that way sometimes too! Just proves though, just cos its not a popular book now it was still published, which means someone thought it was good! Ta for the posts redhead ;)
