Remembrance by Theresa Breslin was an amazing read, emotional and deeply moving.
The story is about The Great War (or World War One) and how it changes the lives of 5 young people. They are; Charlotte, a fairly rich girl from a grande household, Francis, Charlottes older brother who does not believe in fighting, Margaret, the girl who works at the shop and becomes friends with Francis, John Malcom, Margarets twin and loves Charlotte and fianlly Alex, Margaret and John Malcoms younger brother.
The story follows their lives througout the time between 1914-1918, and it is often shocking, sad and also romantic. Be warned, it is sad at times and also a very vivid depiction of the war itself, which was really awful in itself, so you may cry tears of saddness as well as tears of joy.
The story is amazing, and gets a 4 stars out of 5. I recommend for 11+, because of the content about war. It may sound like a boring historical book, BUT IT IS NOT. It is amazing, and I strongly recommend it for any reader.
Read it, and remember.
